Sundays are set-up days. We spent today getting doctor sheets and surgery sheets ready for tomorrow. We weigh all the cats who need verbal updates tomorrow with their weights. We also had to pull cats back to medical for procedures tomorrow.

On the docket for tomorrow is 1 of 2 possible dentals. One is a young FeLV kitty who has some stomatitis and has been losing weight. The other is a 9-year-old FIV+ lady who has pretty severe dental disease and she is also losing weight. It's always hard to "rack and stack" who goes for dentals. It can change at game time too. Sometimes a new intake bumps the planned dental. I wish we were in a position to do them more often so we didn't have to operate this way, but this is how things go.

We also have 3 neuters, 1 spay, a skin biopsy, a sedated laryngeal exam, a sedated shave and a deobstipation planned. We will likely get some ultrasounds done too. It's a full schedule tomorrow.

No one crazy showed up at the door, which is always nice. We had a group of high schoolers in that came to help around the shelter and most of our volunteers showed up, so all in all, not a bad day.

I am disheartened by people who think it's okay to tell me how to feel. I did not choose this job on a whim. I chose to feed my soul. It was much more important to me than what I was getting paid previously. I wasn't happy. My life has been a life of service. This is no different. I will always serve where there's a need. I don't expect people to understand it or even to go to the lengths I do. Rescue is hard. Every day there's something to celebrate and something that rips our hearts out. I am me and people are free to take it or leave it, but I will not change or stop working so hard at something I love so much.

We had one intake today. A big bully kitty found himself in the middle of a colony where he didn't belong. He's sweet, but he was stopping the colony cats from eating because he's a big boy. He was safely removed, and when it was realized how nice he was, it was worked out to get him to us. His meow absolutely does not match his large size. It's actually kind of funny. Thankfully his disease testing came back clear, so he will hopefully go live a happy life in GenPop until he goes home.
