Day 1: Looking Back to Move Forward
Before we dive into 365 days of cat rescue in real-time, let's talk about what 2025 looked like for us.
By the Numbers:
792 cats came through our doors in 2025. 695 found their forever homes - 139 of those thanks to a local cat cafe, who proved once again that some cats just have that special something that opens hearts and wallets for their friends. We said goodbye to 126 angels who crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
But here's the number that changed everything: 100% FIP saves.
Let that sink in. Feline Infectious Peritonitis used to be a death sentence. We'd make a cat comfortable, love them through it, and watch them fade. This year? Every single FIP case we treated survived. Every. Single. One. That's not luck - that's medical advances finally catching up to a disease that's broken our hearts for years.
What Changed:
Our team grew. Not just in numbers, but in capability and resilience. We implemented new security measures because unfortunately, working in animal welfare means sometimes protecting ourselves and our cats from people who don't have the animals' best interests at heart. More security upgrades are coming in 2026.
We're also searching for a new veterinarian - a transition that's both necessary and daunting when you're managing medical care for up to 400+ cats at any given time.
The Reality:
This work is long hours and difficult patrons. It's foster contract violations and unauthorized vet procedures. It's cats who come in too sick, too broken, or too feral. It's the ones who almost make it. It's the joy of watching a scared shelter cat blossom in the right home, and the heartbreak of the ones who never get that chance.
It's chaos with a purpose.
But through the pain and exhaustion and celebrations, we triumphed. Our team is dedicated to giving these cats the best life possible, whether that's two weeks of comfort care or twenty years in a loving home.
What's Ahead:
That's what this blog is about. No sugar-coating. No highlight reel. Just 365 days of what cat rescue really looks like at a facility caring for hundreds of cats - the medical cases, the foster drama, the adoptions that make you cry happy tears, the losses that just make you cry.
Welcome to the real deal!
